Amala Spa Birmingham chooses Kitlock's coded lockers

The Hyatt Regency Amala Spa in Birmingham has chosen KitLock keyless lockers for its changing rooms.

The urban spa and leisure club is part of the modern, four-star hotel in Birmingham’s city centre and has state-of-the-art therapy rooms and a 16-metre indoor pool and gym.

Amala Spa chose to install 150 coded Kitlock 1000 lockers across its male and female changing to solve the ongoing problem of missing keys.

Assistant spa manager, Kerry Bond said: “We have approximately 75 lockers in both the male and female changing rooms, but a large majority were ‘out of action’ due to the high numbers of missing locker keys.

“We have such a high turnover of guests, many accidentally taking locker keys home, that it became a constant issue. At one point there were only 10 working lockers left in the men’s changing room.”

Guests enter a four-digit code on the keypad, ‘lock and go’ without having to use keys, fobs or tokens. To open the locker again, guests re enter their code. The code is then automatically erased for the next user. If a guest forgets their code, a member of staff can open the locker using a technician code.

Spa guests sign in to use the facilities they are given a numbered rubber band to help them remember which locker is theirs.
